Courtyard Garden

My clients own this one bedroom coach house property and currently let the this. The garden was a tired veg patch which was under-utilised and lacked space for utilities and seating, meaning the area had become neglected.

My clients wanted a garden that was low maintenance, maximized the use of the space more effectively and created a space that tenants could retreat to.

I removed the vegetable beds to open up the space and reduce the maintenance required.

Instead, I have created three distinct areas. There is space for alfresco dining for up to four people, relaxed seating to enjoy a cup of tea in the morning and the utilities have been hidden away behind rustic paneling.

I have used gravel throughout and paving steps have been added in the seating areas and pathway through. The planting in this area has been kept full to reduce the ongoing maintenance required, and has helped to create a more private feel to the space.

Finally, I added a water bowl and pollinator friendly plants which have maximised the biodiversity of the garden and created a haven for wildlife.
